We developed two recruiting programs for Covenant Health, one for physicians and one for nurses, technologists, therapists and pharmacists. We worked closely with Covenant Health's recruiting specialists in both efforts.
Interviewing newly-recruited physicians reinforced our belief that physicians first choose the location in which to establish (or relocate) their practices, then determine the organizations or facilities with which to align. We developed a brochure and web site that featured both the area and the advantages offered by Covenant Health. Recently-recruited physicians were used as spokespeople, since research on many other projects has shown that the most credible spokespeople/endorsers for physicians are other physicians.
Our non-physician caregiver recruiting program consists entirely of general system-promoting newspaper ads referring readers to the corporate recruiting web site. Research showed that the corporate jobs web page alone attracted as many qualified applicants as the web site combined with local newspaper advertising, so local classified recruitment was eliminated at a substantial savings. National journals and skill-specific web sites are still occasionally used for out-of-market recruiting.
